The progress of science in the last few decades have been astounding. So much so that the science fiction of yesterday is a reality of today and science fiction of today is bound to be the reality of tomorrow. In this respect I want to use this forum as a sounding board of ideas.

Computers, to me, work very similar to how our brains work, having a storage device, memory as well as processing capabilities and the operating systems. Human brains have all these things and more. But till now computers have something which are not available to humans and that is ‘Restore Point’.

System Restore is a component of Windows OS that you can use to Restore your computer to a previous state, if a problem occurs, without losing your personal data files (such as Microsoft Word documents, browsing history, drawings, favorites, or e-mail). System Restore monitors changes to the system and some application files, and it automatically creates easily identified Restore points These Restore points allow you to revert the system to a previous time. They are created daily and at the time of significant system events (such as when an application or driver is installed). You can also create and name your own Restore points at any time.

When will we be able to evolve Restore points for human brains so that we can be able to undo the effects of trauma or other debilitating diseases on our mind without losing any ‘data’ in the process?

Can one imagine the medical potential of such an invention? Can this fiction be a fact of tomorrow?
